For your speedometer check the small hole on the front of the lower unit above the nose cone to make sure it isn’t plugged up with wood or other debris. If it is, find a drill bit of smaller diameter and HAND turn the drill bit to clean it out. Not sure if this would cause a speedo to stick but if plugged it will definitely cause one not to work.
For your trolling motor help us narrow it down. Get a test light and see if you are getting electricity to your plug. This way you will know if it is the connection between the bow plug and the batteries or your motor. Also, I don’t mean to sound ridiculous, but since you just purchased the boat and are not familiar with it make sure the switch on the side of your trolling motor pedal isn’t in the off position. Most have off, constant on and intermittent on.
