I’ve had water in fuel alarm twice in 1.5 years from my optimax. Both times I have drained the fuel filter and have found small traces of water.

I use only non-ethanol gas, And I have replaced the fuel line and primer bulb.

2007 Pantera 2.

Any other thoughts that could be causing this.

I think that your water in the fuel alarm system is working just as designed. The water is most probably coming in with your fuel. I know in this area, the non-ethanol fuel stations are “older stations with older tanks”. They carry non ethanol gas partly because they would have to completely replace their tanks to carry ethanol fuel and the owners don’t want to spend the money to upgrade. Then the fuel that they do carry doesn’t move quickly like it does in a high volume station so the longer it sits there, the more water it could be collecting.
I could be totally wrong, but these are my thoughts. It’s great that your alarm is working well to protect your engine and it is very easy to drain the filter to get rid of the water. Maybe you could try a different station to purchase your fuel and see what happens.

I had water in fuel alarm with my optimax when I upgraded it on my 1998 jaguar had to cap off the original screw type gas vents and install new type gas flip lids water was coming in old vent
