Yes you are right about the wire. It should be going to your readout. If you are removing the charger, just cut it and pull it out from the readout. I would remove the readout and have another person pull on the wire while you are in the back feeling the same wire to make sure it is the right wire before cutting. Can’t hurt to be absolutely certain.
