Recently purchased a dealer demo boat that I am trying to bring back to near “showroom” condition. There are always a few warts, which the dealer has been extremely helpful resolving.

I noticed today that the trim has released from the middle of the port fender. It is too tight to stretch back over as is. Does anyone know if I can safely soften this trim with a heat gun to get it to stretch a bit? Any other suggestions?

Also, can I use contact cement to glue it back assuming I can get it into position or is there a better choice?

Replacement is the best option as they are hard to get right when it shrinks back while loose.

Did Bcb not use to put those small black powder coated rivets in tight radius such as that.

It was done (rivets) on a prior trim and with the new 3M trim adhesive is not necessary when done properly. 3M has many trim tapes which the public can not buy and are extremely limited in sales and protected from distribution by 3M. This adhesive is one of those limited products. The adhesive is preinstalled on the trim and we requested the particular tape.

The trim is usually pulled off when stepped on in most cases we have seen. This one does not appear to have been stepped on and looks like it just came loose. This looks like the perfect storm where that trim adhesive tape was jointed on the roll and it came out in that bend. The installer most likely never thought about the tape joint not causing a problem.

Definitely not stepped on. The picture is the same issue I have, it appears that the trim shrunk and just pulled away.
