I just purchased a used 2005 paterna classic. motor on it is a merc 200 Opti. I was a previous owner of an early 2000’s Jaguar with a merc 225EFI with a 25P trophy, boat was a low to mid 70’s boat fully loaded.
When I was looking over the boat before purchase, noticed it has 27P trophy prop on it, feel like this might be over propped. talked to previous owner during walkaround and he said he never had it over low 60’s but also that he never opened it up all the way because he and his partner were older and didn’t care much for speed, I know the classic is a lighter hull, but most of the basscat hulls in the 19′ range with a 200hp motor are propped with a 24P prop or lower. And I’m aware every boat is different, and boats respond differently to each prop based on load as well as driving ability. I know theres no one answer either, haven’t had time yet to dump it in the lake to find out how it runs as I just picked it up yesterday, just want some thoughts on some baseline figures.
