Trailer Bunk Carpet Kit Question

I purchased a carpet kit for my Cougar a while back and I’m not sure I have enough carpet to pad the top of the bunks. I have two 10′ bunks and two 6′ bunks made from 2x6s trimmed down to 4.75″ wide. I have four strips of carpet that are between 10.5′ and 11′ long and they are just wide enough to wrap the boards. If I cut a 4.75″ strip off of them to pad the top, there will not be enough carpet to wrap the carpet and staple it to the bottom of the boards. Am I supposed to cut 4.75″ strips from the leftover end pieces? If I do that, I won’t have a continuous strip glued to the top of the bunk and I’m not sure there is enough there to pad all four bunks.
