For you guys that have the new Merc 4 strokes, does your in dash analog water psi gauge read 0 psi at idle? My needle on my gauge stays at 0 at idle and starts to move as i throttle up..needle shows nothing at idle..i do not have a water psi reading on the smartcraft gauge as it is not hooked up via the engine..i get no overheat warnings or anything..just curious about some other new Cats..thanks..

mercury water pressure at idle has always been low. in addition, your water pressure gauge may not be actual. the engine temperature is a better indication even at WOT.

My Merc 4 stroke idles at 2.5 psi. Your analog gauge is probably not that accurate. Should show 25-35 psi while running. You’re probably ok if you see the higher pressures. Only option for you is a new gauge maybe.

Is your 2.5 reading on the smartcraft or analog gauge? I do see 25 plus on my analog gauge when running flat out..i cannot read PSI on the smartcraft, as it is not hooked up via the engine..

Yes my reading is from a Mercury Monitor. My analog gauge also shows a couple pounds at idle. I would do what you have to do to have your smartcraft gauge working. Maybe only need a cable to motor or a jumper under the dash.
