Finally got into my own BassCat, a 07 Puma. Many have probably seen this on BBC. Coming out of a ’91 Stratos 201 so the performance is not really comparable!
I have a 07 250 ProXS on a Detwiler Hydraulic Plate and a 26 Trophy Plus. From what I read a Fury is a more preferred or popular prop, I’m not going to really get into playing with the props until I have more of the hang of driving this new rig.
I do have a few questions since the hull I came from is not the same type of Performance hull.
-Are some props easier to drive as far as chine walking goes… I know the prop isn’t what is really causing it but do some effect it more than others?
-Hydraulic plate gives me waaay more adjustment than I’m used to. Where does my combo run best by consensus, 3″, 3.5″ PTP? I’d rather start it at a good overall place until I feel and am comfortable with the Hull, than chasing my tail moving it all up and down inconsistantly.
-I believe I’m around 3.5″ PTP now and get a fair amount of Chine walk (in my opinion) around 66, but I can tell its got alot left in it!! Does that seem about a normal place for it to start if there is a normal? I have the chine walk article pinned and refer to it, https://basscat.com/forum/groups/basscatowner/chine-walk-learning-to-control-it-my-experience/ ,but seat time is very different than reading time.
Thank you for the help.. Ill add a couple pics just because!
