my trolling motor goes out occasionally and I just have to pull or wiggle the wire at the plug harness to get it working again. How does the plug detach? Do I just pull it or do I twist it? It’s plastic and I don’t want to damage the plug.
That plug pulls straight out of outlet on boat. Might have to wiggle it a bit but it should come out pretty easy (assuming you can get around trolling motor foot pedal. If not you will have to move pedal first). Once out you can open up the plug itself and check connections. It will be obvious once you unscrew those two screws holding plug together. Good luck!
My Marinco plug had a twist lock, although it would work without twisting, so if it doesn’t pull out try twisting counterclockwise to unlock it. Then wiggle it
A loose wire in the plug can get hot enough to melt the plastic, so you should take the plug apart and tighten the screws on the wires.
