Topic: Jackplate position?

I have a 20 Sabre’ with a 150 proxs 4stroke.
The dealer set the jackplate about 3/4″ below flush and the very best I saw via GPS was 60 with just me and a full tank.Two guys and I’m bumping 58 on a good day.
I’m seeing others running considerably better than that.
I started bumping my jackplate up and I am currently at flush and it seems to a a little slower to top speed and with two people I’m hitting 57.
The rooster tail at WOT is the same, right above the engine cowling. Water pressure is through the roof( I question its accuracy)
Everyone is telling me that these boats don’t like a lot of trim- I have to trim mine to max slowly to get speed(57-58) out of it.

Keep going up?

It’s all about steering torque and your engine is shorter in the midsection than older Opti series engines. We would nor just keep going up, though RPM and steering torque are the indicators. You don’t mention what propeller you have either.

It’s a 24p Fury.
Speaking of torque- The wheel has ALWAYS been pretty hard to turn left when trimmed for best speed.
If I trim it where there’s little to no pressure on the wheel I’m doing MAYBE 40at WOT.

If you have to pull hard left, then lowering the engine should resolve this and you want only a slight amount of tension on the wheel. Engine height controls this, not only trim and not mostly trim.
