Water compartment leak

I am new to basscat, I just bought a 2017 puma ftd, this thing is unreal compaired to my last ride, I love it.

I need a little help with a couple issues. First one is my port side rod compartment gets quite a bit of water in it. (Single console). It’s not coming from the latch or the seal.

The second is a lesser concern but the insulation in the center compartment is coming loose.

Any help or suggestion is appreciated.

Hmm, the center foam coming loose would require Weldwood Contact cement. That is available in small bottles at Home Depot.

the water we suggest figuring out if it’s on water or when sitting at the house.

Thanks for the comment, the water shows up after being in a heavy, sitting at the house.

I have been in heavy rains and checked it while fishing and it is dry, put it on the trailer and go to to the hotel and check it in the morning and it will have cup fulls of water in the bottom at the lowest point where the rods butt end are.

JamesColeman, I don’t know if your rod tubes in the forward part of the compartment have been removed or not but the two screws that hold it in could be a source of water entry. They should have a small washer on them to seal the holes good. I would inspect those two screws to see if they are not the culprit. Maybe the previous owner could have lost the washers or something. It only takes a very small leak to accumulate the water and I would check this closely.

If it is gaining moisture in the boxes sitting in the rain, then it is leaking through the top or a hardware item(s). There is a test Using brown paper listed in the FAQ section.

If you park the boat on the trailer with the bow much lower than the transom the water will collect at the front of the lid and have a tendency to pool up and overflow into the compartment. My Cougar does the same thing.

Thanks for the responses, I will check the overflow and see if that’s what is happening.
