From day one, it took me forever to fill the gas tank on my 2020 Bass Cat Pantera Classic! Even when I bought this boat, I was told by my dealer that he had a hard time filling it. He even tried shortening the filler tube. I tried everything. I thought it may be the vent tube because I have seen a lot of posts on them being obstructed. For months it took me forever to fill my boats gas tank. Finally, I removed the filler line at the tank, looked inside the line and spotted a white plug with a black trap door. (Perko) I removed it and on the side it had a flow arrow. It was installed backwards. I put the filler tube back on and 5 gallons of gas flowed into the tank as fast as it came out of the gas can.
I have researched the Perko valve and it is a splash back safety valve. I ordered a new one because I destroyed the old one and will install it with the flow arrow in the right direction. Perko Manufacturing has a video on this inline valve and why it is in the newer boat filler tubes and I highly recommend that you watch it before you tamper with the valve. I hope that this helps anyone out there that has been having trouble filling the gas tank. If you remove your hose from the tank side and can open the black trap door by pushing on it, chances are it is installed backwards.
