Topic: 2020 Cougar Questions

Hello I’m looking into buying a cougar ftd 2020 with like 12 hours on the boat. The boat is in Texas and I’m in NM so it’s a little bit of a drive. I have a couple quick questions for the BassCat experts:

1-how much motor warranty would be left?

2-any issues with that year 250 pro xs, or any reason not to buy that hull. I know BassCat is great but say for example the 2021 could have been redesigned and is the one to have

3-the boat is loaded up with poles 10” helix front and back ultrex 112 upgraded gauges. Any idea of value? I feel like I’m getting a great deal at $67k for the boat motor and trailer. Hours are super low but it’s still a 2020

4-I just found out it’s an SP what’s the difference in that vs the standard cougar ftd

That hull is great. No changes for several years and have had that model Cougar and it is really solid. Warranty should be discussed with the seller. typically has a 3 year warranty but many have added 2 extra so 5 years. Seller should know. This is a big deal and you can buy extra warranty from Mercury as long as the original warranty [3 years] has not expired. Hours are great and the SP model is value priced as a package deal. i think one of the biggest differences is the fuel tanks. SP has less capacity but they may have added that. Had that Mercury 250 PRO XS and no issues. Really strong motor. That boat is almost identical as my 2022 but has low hours,so considering the hours seems about right on the price. My 2 Cents
