You can quit questioning that aspect as there are all sorts of bottom deviations in the hulls. That is the least affected area on top end. We would weigh the package and see what it weighs on a truck scale. Start there, then check full throttle and the engine. Also what height is the engine as we’ve had people raise engines because the felt it would make them easier to drive  and they should not be high.

Because that outside part of the hull isn’t touching the water at 71mph. What prop and rpm are you running? Also how many batteries, graphs and power poles do you have? Is this with a full tank, full live wells and 3 adults? Just trying to get an idea of your load. I assume you just bought this 10 year old boat or did you make a change to it recently?

I’ve always called them “wings”.  My 07 Classic and 2020 Caracal have them as does my buddies 07 Puma.  Not sure what they do but if Rick designed them into the hull I’m sure the somehow enhance performance.

My Sabre has them as well, I thought they help with turning and rear lift at slower speeds when not running on the center pad which is tunneled though I’m no boat designer.

How many rpm’s are you turning? Where is the weight associated in the boat…a lot of tackle up front? How many batteries are you running? There are a LOT of factors such as what prop you are running, etc.
