Well, propellers are rather hard to come by and the dealership may have been simply trying to get you on the water. The 24” Fury is our suggestion on an Eyra and 250 Pro XS. Those are short supply no doubt.

Mercury Props is at capacity and can’t keep up. They added on new injection lines and computerized grinding and buffing for the new engine series and new propellers. The production of older series is running about 20% over capacity on production and remains extremely far behind.

We would visit with the dealer on 24 Fury and we would also add a couple of smaller hole PVS plugs to this setup in the mean time. There may be a combination that prevents most slippage. You also could try another style to get you perform8ng better while awaiting a 24”.

My 22 Eyra came with a 24 Fury and runs right at 6200 rpm’s with hydraulic Jack plate set on 5/6 depending on water, I bought a 25 tempest plus as a spare and it runs 2-3 mph faster and hole shot is still very good with Jack plate at 4/5. The fury is better at cruising speeds/ low rpm’s, the tempest performs better at top end, it has more lift.

If you feel it’s struggling in the summer heat you may want to try a 24 tempest, I feel like the 24 fury that came on mine is slightly better in this Tennessee humid heat. In theory the tempest in the same pitch as the fury should gain you 2-300 rpm’s. I carry a lot of gear and have 4 batteries but don’t have poles. Hopefully you know someone who has one you can try, hope this helps. Props are hard to come by, I gave 525 for my tempest 1.5-2 years ago, now they are 850-1000 if you can find them!

I’ve had a Pantera classic, the 19’1” model with a 200efi and a 25 tempest plus ran a little faster than a 24 fury but the fury was a little better out of the hole. Had a Cougar with a 225ho Evinrude and 27 tempest ran a 4-5 mph faster than 26 fury and came out of the hole better. In my opinion the tempest provides better lift than the fury which makes it perform better on the upper rpm range. If you are turning plenty of rpm’s with the 25 fury you might be able to turn a 27 tempest.
