Talon vs Power Pole

I am looking to get either a talon or power pole and wanted thoughts. I have a 91 pII with a 200 merc. What are the advantages and disadvantages of both and should I go single or dual and again pros and cons any info is appreciated.Billy

Love having two Power poles, my buddy has a talon it works just as good but it swings back and forth to much for me. All the weights at the top. He likes it, Ford – Chevy I guess.

I have two power poles. Started out with one and later got a good deal on a used one a friend was getting the newer style. Which ever brand you get, if you can afford it, definitely go with two. I can do a whole lot more with two than I could with one. It keeps boat pointed in the direction your sitting in. Parking next to the dock and keeping the boat off the dock or off the bank(rocks) for another thing.Ive never been around the talon and Im sure they are fine, but for me I like the PP since you can lower them for co-angler or under low bridges by just hitting the button. The pumps are in the bildge so you have a little less weight on the back. Had mine for two years and no leaks.

they came up with the original idea, and invented it. never met a powerpole owner that did NOT like it. dont think i can say the same about the talon. either way, make sure you go with the 8 model over the 6 footer. that is experience talking, there.

I got one Talon and then went back about a month later and got a second. My main reason for choosing the Talon over the PP was to be able to take one off easily and use it on the front of a river boat also to hold it nose-upstream in the current. With the PP, both the out-and-down action and hydraulic setup make it much less viable for this; but thats just my situation and few if any of you would have needs similar to those.I would also add though that unless you fish only water with really shallow flats then 8 is not enough. Definitely get the 10 if you get a PP. I wish MK wouldve added another stage to the Talon which would get it down to 12.Deke

Both are awesome tools and work very well. I got the Talon simply because I use my Cat as a family boat, dragging kids on a tube from time to time. It is super easy to get on and off. The new bracket design is very solid and does not vibrate. The Talon is also easier to install and doesnt clutter up your bilge with hydraulic pumps and assorted piping. All that being said, both are quality products, easy to use and generally quite reliable. It comes down to your personal preferance. Good luck with your choice.
