Hey Delta Rat, Congratulations on being a part of the BCB Family, you will see in the next coming months why people are so stoked about owning a cat, it starts right here on this forum…..On that Hull and Killer Motor Combo, I believe BCB used to run a 26 or 28 Raker 2, now of course since the boat is 4 yrs old it may have something different on it…..Let us know your Propshaft to Pad center Measurement, now if you have a hydraulic jack plate, then you have infinent Adjustments…If you have manual you want to start with the Plates at flush, meaning looking at the jack plate on the side, you will see where it slides together, the top of those pieces that are together on top, those should be flush, once you get used to the torque and hull, then you can pop it up a 1/2inch at a time until you feel some steering torque then you know your on the sweet spot, BCB recommends that anytime you get a different hull or brand that you learn the ins and outs of how the hull and motor reacts together….Now 1st thing, did you run your serial # on your Etec at a dealer? Reason I ask is that model year had some Big problems, not at all a big deal, because 99.9% of the 2005/2006 225HOs have been updated, so if you havent ran the serial # I can do that for you at anytime here at home on my lap top…also since your motor has the High Performance Lightning 1 lower unit you have the GOOD 1.86:1 Gear ratio and that motor is really 247HP at the prop, and each Etec is Dynoed at the factory and Emmisions tested, they are very proactive and I know quite a bit of them, you can contact me anytime either by Cell or Email……920-295-2069 or worner_brannon@yahoo.com Good Luck and Welcome to the Family….Brannon MARKSQUALITYMARINE.COMYour Signature …
delta rat, Just take you time and get used to it. Keep your plate down and where you have good propeller bite. Since your rig is a 2005 model, it probably has a Merc propeller on that one. The Raker II combos were not popular then. Which is fine as they ran pretty good. BCB
A friend of mine has the cougar with 225 ho with 186s. a 27 tempest or a 26 fury both run real well on it. email me if you need info dougntinamcgee@hotmail.com doug
