The fibreglass around the seat post is reamed out. BCB has mentioned the fix for this in the past. You have to build a dam around the post from underneath using plasticine, play dough, or similar compound. the way the trailer step is designed there is no room for a bigger 2 speed winch like a fulton f2 or an electric one.

i did a search in here and on bbc and it’s either 1) normal 2) low fluid 3) air in the system or 4) bad master cylinder.

 

i added a little fluid today.  Will see tomorrow if it still clunks.  If so, will try to bleed.
