Almost any high performance bass boat is going to chine when trying to get those last 3-5 mph. At WOT, the Sabre hull packs a lot of air under it, so when you reach 65+ it is literally almost flying…very limited amount of pad in the water. The bottom line is you can always back off the throttle or trim down a touch to avoid chine walking, but…Read more

As far as I know, the batteries are a dealer install on a new boat. On a used boat, if traded in, the batteries might have been shot and your dealer put something in to “get by”.

You might try taking the tube off the back of the speedometer and see if it drops to zero. If so, the tube is clogged. If not, the speedo is broken, maybe because it got frozen. I do not like a speedometer, as they are a pain, and notoriously inaccurate. GPS readings on you fish finder (if equipped) is much more reliable. My bet is the speedo is toast.

As said, the Margay and the Classic use similar build techniques, so that may be why the Margay is listed heavier than the Sabre. With regards to leg room, having a hotfoot might cause you an issue…hard for me to know since I’m 5’8″ with a 29″ inseam. Since the FTD comes with the tilt wheel, it becomes less of an issue, and you can always not…Read more

Every Sabre or any other model will not be the exact same weight, so a figure is published that’s “close enough”. I can promise you that it doesn’t weigh more than 1250 – 1300 lbs, if that much. The process BCB uses to build the hull is why their boats are lighter than some others. Vacuum bagging the hull is not something other manufacturers do…Read more

You should have a group 31 battery for cranking and electronics, IMO. A 24 is just not going to cut it. Get the maximum CCA and reserve that you can find. My ’17 Sabre FTD has wet cell group 31 for cranking, and two group 27s for the Fortrex 80 trolling motor. The onboard charger should handle those with no issues.
