Hi guys I havejust recentley purcased a 92 classic love the boat first glass rig I have ever owned but I just got hammered on the motor I havefound a nice mariner 200 hp 88 89 model would this be a good mate for my classic had a 2.4 bridgeport that was not for this boat any suggestions would be greatley appreciated love the website thanks classic92
The engine really has no “model” year anymore. This was started about 2 years ago. What you see is the month/year the engine was manufactured. Warranty does not start until the date the engine was purchased/registered to you. A 23 Tempest is a 3 blade prop. Whether you have a Tempest (3blade) or Trophy (4 blade) really doesnt matter. Both are good props and both will perform well as long as the prop is the right size for your boat! As far as the Stalker package………..Im not sure what to check here. It may be possible that you have a bad connection. Good luck with the boat and hope you catch many fish out of it.
Big daddy i havent seen my next boat since 10.08 but i remember the stalker controls only doing one side at a time and needing to either hit the same button twice or another switch on the touch pad got it done. Regardless- this will be an easy fix at the dealer if needed. I know you want it all perfect as would I and phil above- go fish and enjoy today and by monday theyll be enough hits on this to get you going in the right directionLast edited by clownshoes on May 23rd, 2009, 2:13 pm, edited 1 time in total.C.O.D. gem63 must be your bride. Here is the reply to her post. gem63, No he doesnt have to wait to talk to someone, you are doing it right now here. This board is monitored off and on all day by individuals from the factory (Sales, Service or Management), or the advertising group on this board. Please dont you or your husband hesitate to come to this board and openly discuss any questions you have. We or plenty of very knowledgeable owners of Bass Cats are here to answer your questions whenever you have them. We try to handle them ourselves, though are often beat to it by the visitors here and we do appreciate them. This is your on line Owners Manual. You might have your husband check out the FAQ section also. Make sure that your husband is switching the Night Stalker from the Rocker switch at the dash for side to side. If not then the gang here is on target and we will make it right! If is possible that there is an issue after production and it is possible that there was a problem with the wiring. Though on a Night Stalker most everyone tests it just to see how it works. We would expect that from your dealer just out of curiosity to give the lights a look. There are no more year models on outboard engines from Mercury or Yamaha. The engine is probably made in 2008, and that is a born on date. The engine will be identical to anything made now unless the model number is changed. Your engine could have been built the last week of December, and thus it would be tagged as a 2008, though was built only a couple of months ago. Both Yamaha and Mercury have born on dates, and no longer have model years. we could not find any reference on the Yamaha site, though here is the Mercury information. As a builder we may and have received a warehouse engine that was built in 2007 though is still the same model and product. This is not common recently, though was more common 6 months ago. This is directly from the Mercury Web Site: There is more information here. Link to Mercury Marine Web Site Information Why did Mercury eliminate model year designations for its outboard engines? Eliminating the “model year” designation results in a host of benefits for consumers of our products and for the dealers who represent Mercury Marine. In the past, Mercury waited for the model year changeover date before introducing new products and enhancements to existing models. But because the market continues to evolve, making new products and improvements available in “real time” is absolutely necessary. A major benefit of this initiative is that the very latest products are always available, often much sooner than in the past.In addition, because our boat builder and dealer customers can more effectively manage their inventory levels, they generally will not have to deplete prior-year inventory before receiving the newest products. This also helps ensure consumers always have the latest models. Finally, this is consistent with current trends within the marine industry. Mercurys MerCruiser sterndrive engines and MotorGuide electric trolling motors have not had model years for some time, and two other major outboard manufacturers have also eliminated model year within the past twelve months. BCB was plain in discussing this with their dealers and was one of few OEM manufacturers not in favor of the elimination of the model year. It has went much smoother than was expected. We are not in factory, though they would be glad to help. Your dealer also could verify production of the serial number. We know this engine one is confusing, though please forward those thoughts to the engine company that this applies to, be that Yamaha or Mercury. To their credit, BRP Evinrude does still have a model year. Have a WONDERFUL holiday weekend and please everyone remember those who served for our Freedoms! BCB Admin.
I understand how to cut the lights on,as I stated the power light works on starboard and activates the lights, when you switch the rocker to port there are no lights or red indicator on the rocker switch,,everything is plugged in under the console.right side works left side dont, and I do understand you can only use one side at a time
Since this is a new boat, we assume that a wire has gotten disconnected somehow. Is this a factory installed Night Stalker, or dealer installed feature? Also you can verify that the wires are on the proper prongs, as if you have voltage and the switch lights up, it should light up when you turn the switch to the opposing side. If it does not, then we suspect that the Positive (+) wire has been moved to the end prong instead of the center prong. Which would then only turn on one side of the lights. The switch should light up in either thrown position.
Lights up on the switch in right not in left,,factory installed. There is one black and one gray on the top,one main red with a jumper red on both middles, and a gray with black stripes on the bottom right prong
onebgfish It sounds like a faulty switch that went bad. Try jumping from the center power pin to the end pins on the switch. We are now suspect of a switch failure. Just touch them to verify this.
Can you explain this a liitle better? What about the bottom wire that is black and gray stripe? Do I remove this? I need step by step… Thanks!
also these wires are crimped so tight on the switch I am scared I will pull the wire off the lead, the switch is loose on the console,do not see any screws holding it in place.
The 88 – 89 200 would make a nice combination. The XRI or EFI versions would be best, though carb would run a little slower and make a match.
Hey bob you need to fillout your profile. These guys are aware of your problems we have talked about it.
Yeah your good friend here told us ALL about you. You are one CRAZY dude!!!!…. Just messin. Sounds like a decnt motor to get.Dan Yonan. ———————————————————
The motor sitting crooked isnt a big deal.To straighten just make the side that is at the right height tight and loosen the other and use the middle bolt to lift the motor till level.Your speeds are the same as my 150 opti and ive only seen 60 mph one time.So i think you are good to go man.
Also forgot that the higher speeds you are seeing are from the older mercurys like the xr6 and efi.
