I have the same boat, 08 Classic but with a Yamaha 175 HPDI. I am running with the holes open and I have a good hole shot. I am not a speed demon, but I have clocked 67 MPH GPS on a “lets see how fast it will go day”. Two people aboard, tank over half full and fishing gear. I may have more gear in the boat now, but I have no complaints on the performance. I started with a Yamaha 25 three blade, and tried a 4 blade Mercury before getting the Fury. Fury 24 was best. I have a hydraulic jack too. Your 200 should work fine with the holes open. Should be faster than my 175 HP Plenty of push for loading my boat too.. Skipjack
Thanks Skipjack. How were your rpms affected by the fury?
I bought the PVS plugs when I got my Fury. Ive yet to need them. Ive been running mine wilth all holes open for several months and the boat jumps out of the hole. I cant help on the Classic as I have a Sabre FTD DC with a 175 ProXS 25 Fury. Ill be surprised if you are not hitting the rev limiter with the 200 Merc on that boat.
Open.
Running a 26 Fury on my 09 Puma with 225 Pro XS…great hole shot, mid range, and top end (74.9 with just me in it) handles like a dream. Wouldnt trade it for any other prop. Running 3.5 inches below pad. No plugs.
I have a 07 Puma w/Mercury 250 ProXS. I have been running a 26 and 27 P Tempest (both worked by Mark Croxton) on my boat since it was new. I have bought a 26 p Fury recently. The big difference I see is the driveability of the boat. It is easier to drive above 70 mph. My Tempests are fast but if someone is not used to driving a fast bass boat, well to say the least, you have your hands full. The Fury took care of some of that. Dont get me wrong, you still have to drive it, but it is not as “loose”. The speeds are comparable between the two props. I carry a heavy load of tackle and I team tournament fish. We fished on Lake Eufaula, Oklahoma yesterday. With the livewells full, and 12 lbs of fish. My big %&$@# and my partners 200 lbs. we were running 73.6 – 74 mph GPS. That is with my Tempest. Ill get my Fury back from Mark Croxton tomorrow. He believes he can get me a little more top end with this worked Fury and not give up any handling characteristics. T. Prop straight out of the box with no plugs on 09 Puma FTD. Hole shot and acceleration were good, top end speed was good. Holds boat well in rough water which means it holds well at slower speeds. Top end speed is about 1.5 mph slow than my 28 Trophy. For most applications the Fury 26 is the way to go.
I read on here that basscat suggest using a 24. Is that right seems small for a p2. 2007 model
usually run 1 pitch lower than you normally run that is what Basscat suggests.
I would run a 25 and in lighter applications a 26. Though a 26 is pushing it. A 24 may be on the small side.
Correct, though we sure are waiting on a 27 Fury for a couple rigs.
Ronnie, fury props are ready to geaux out of the box, Ive used 3 of them. Hows the ole TIGER boat doing? You should be able to run a 25p? SAMLast edited by SAMRUSH on June 6th, 2010, 1:18 am, edited 1 time in total.BAYOU BANDIT
Sam, the ole Tiger boat is doing great, knock wood!! Its been/still is a great boat. Ive been running a 25P PowerTech TR04-4 blade and was thinking I should drop down one pitch. Im right at the rev limiter with this prop, but I believe its slipping at top end. Thanks for the reply Sam,Ronnie
Taht should be a good option on your rig in a 225 and 24 Fury. We are not fond of Powertech for most applications. We did see a few including a 225 Verado that liked the set up. BCB
Thanks for the vote of confidence BCB. Ronnie
