I have a 2000 P3 with a 200 opti on it,Im currenty running a 25p tempest plus,I also have been thinking about trying the Fury, would I also go to a 24p.I have heard that with some setups dropping a pitch with that prop works best.
I ran the 24 Fury on my 02 Jag/225 Optimax, it was great, depending on your elevation you might be able to run the 25. Right now Im running the same 24 Fury on my 09 PIV/200HO, its working great on this rig as well. Mike
I also love the fury prop. Ran a 24p Fury for a while on my 05 pantera classic and would bump the rev limiter, so I went to a 25p fury that was a good move. The 2010 pantera 2 I have now came with a 25p Fury perfect prop for this rig also. Your only question should be 24p or 25p. I would think 25p
Thanks for all the help and replies guys. I ordered a 24P yesterday. Hopefully i made the right decision. Ill let you guys know after i get it and try it out. Ronnie
Im looking at buying a brand new Fury prop 24P for my 02 Cougar w/ 225 Optimax. What Im wanting to know is, can I expect the prop to be good to go right out of the box or will I possibly need some work on it to make it perform correctly? The reason I ask, the previous PowerTech props Ive gotten have not performed worth a darn when new and needed work. Plus Im tired of slinging blades every other year. Thanks,Ronnie
We put 24 & 25 Fury props on Pantera II models at BCB.Last edited by Bass Cat Boats on December 21st, 2010, 5:28 am, edited 1 time in total.
straybullett runs a 26″ Fury on his PII,and we run 72-74 loaded all day, with great hole shot and midrange.
First off 5600 RPM with a 25P trophy sounds low, have you had this prop worked and added any additional cup to it? To answer the rest of your question I would recommended a 25P fury for your set up. I played with a 25 and 26 fury, and the 25 gave best overall results year round, the 200 opti would turn the the 26 in the winter time but was only turning 5500 rpms, though was acheving almost 73mph. Most consistent prop year round was the 25 fury, good holeshot, maintained 5800-5850 rpms and was a solid 70 mph boat. Before the fury i was running a 26 trophy, and it was a good prop, though holeshot was not great and was constantly all ove the rev limiter and took me quite awhile to get a jackplate setting i was happy with.
Im running a 24 pitched Fury B&Bd by Mark Croxton, with a little added pitch on my 09 PIV. Im running an Etec 200HO and getting 70 at sea level, loaded. Mike
I ran a 26p Fury on my last one, and loved it, but would try a 25p Fury first for overall use it would be best i think. the P4 is a different hull and will run almost any prop you install, strange but true.JSLAW IS CLOSEST TO ON,,,,,,,ive had two P4s they are completely different than a P2, Eyra, etc,,,,,,Go 25p if youre engine is even a tad strong it will awaken it !Last edited by dbasketman on December 21st, 2010, 8:01 pm, edited 1 time in total.
This thread is a great read and felt compelled to join in per my 25p Fury on my VmaxSHO and Eyra. Since adding the second console I noticed my RPMs dropped about 100 rpms to 5750 doing 73.7 mph going up river in these colder temps. Also, by comparison Ive had my 25p Vmax Ventless T1 prop re-pitched down to a 24. I have hit all time best 75 mph while increasing my RPMs to 5902 per my NexSysLink gauges recall function. There are some variables here that has me considering trading my 25p Fury for a 24p Fury prop. I think although my top end may not improve (I hope it will) I think my hole shot which is already very impressive will be even better with smaller pitch prop while increasing my RPMs to where I want them. Ive had multiple chats with Mark Croxton and he couldnt emphasis enough the importance matching a prop to the highest rev specs on the tach with the prop. So my thinking is if my motor rates to 6100 rpms why not try and get there or within 100 rpms of that number. I already have a great working Vmax ventless T1 prop and if a 24p Fury might be better choice for the heat too. Of course I dont have enough experience with 4 strokes to know how they behave in hot and cold weather. Personally, I have not seen much performance difference to date colder temps vs. summer temps. Maybe 100 to 150 rpms gained in colder temps. One thing I do know there are many variables to consider. In the end my thinking is gravitating toward a 24 for the Erya to get to 5900 to 6000 rpm range for best overall performance. BassCat what do you think? I am running a 24 fury also, I found the 25 trophy to be just a tick faster on the top end. Neither prop worked but both need a little both run 5500-5600 both running right at 70 myself and full load.
Im still not understanding why you all are only getting 5500-5600 rpms out of the motors? What JP setting are you both running? Dont get me wrong 70 is a great number with the P4 but i am trying to see why your not getting towards the upper rpm range of your motors. Flyswatter I can see the diffeence the smaller pitch would do on your rig and JP settings and would be interestd to see what a 24 fury does on your rig as well, but the P4 guys have me stumped on the 5500 rpm range at wide open. And by no means am i an expert at prop testing or slippage numbers and rpm range, i just know from 4 years with the P4 and playing with numerous JP settings that 5800-5850 rpms was optimal.Last edited by JSLAW on December 22nd, 2010, 3:21 am, edited 1 time in total.
From our experience this all depends on each individual rig with the P4. The range we see is from 5450 to 5750 as the rev limiter comes into effect after that. Also only digital gauges are accurate, so if your using analog who knows the actual RPMs?
Remove the plugs.
