Should be somewher between 5600-5800 with that setup if my memory serves me correctly. We had a sabre around here that would turn a 25 temptest 6000 rpms but that was with an XR6. I think your efi should turn that 24 in the area I listed above. Chris Coupel Paulina, La.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.

Mine usually runs around 5500-5650. My prop has bad tip cup and I need to have it worked. I should be able to raise it some after working and get higher rpms.

The numbers posted above should be right on the money. I am turning a touch over 5800 with a 23 Tempest Plus. 07 Sabre with 08 150 EFI.

mine is turning 6000-6001 rpms with trim guage almost at the quater mark

Run it back to the dealership and have the tach checked. Im running exactly the same boat/motor/prop setup and am typically 500 rpms below you and consistently run 63 on an average day/load. What kind of gps speeds are you getting at that “rpm”? If youre actually turning 6000 rpms with that setup you should gps 69mph w/ 9% slip. If youre actually running less mph than that you have a tach issue or setup issue w/ excessive slip.

It is common for analog tachs to be off. If this is a Smart Craft, it is spot on. Though the rev limiter on newer engines is less than posted.

im running 63-64 mphs on gps so my tach must be wrong

It is always worthwhile to crosscheck things. Find a good online prop calculator, enter your gear ratio, prop pitch, speed and RPM to see what your slip looks like. If it is not fairly close to 10%, then either your boat setup is way off, or your tach is wrong, or the speed is wrong. Sounds like a fuel restriction? Have you replaced the engine fuel hose with ethanol resistant A1 lines or replaced the fuel filter?

I replaced the fuel filter today an spark plugs. But not fuel hose

Check the primer bulb as well. I have heard of small leaks forming there due to Ethanol and the engine sucking air. If it is not E10 compliant I would change the fuel line and primer bulb. We had this problem on my dads older Johnson 150.

There presently are not any primer bulbs that are Ethanol compliant. Those are coming though.

Ok I changed fuel hose an primer bulb an its still doing same thing what else could I check
