Since the recommendation to run maximum pressure as stated on the tire didnt sound reasonable to me, I have done some research. I believe the max pressure idea is probably true for trailer tires (those marked ST). Basscat uses automobile tires–at least thats what came on all my trailers. Therefore I called Cooper tires customer service and they indicated that the max pressure marked on the tire is the maximum that should ever be put in the tire. As in automobiles, the pressure recommended for the tires is a relationship between the design the of automobile tire and the weight of the rig. Since I could not give him an exact weight, he indicated 35 PSI would be a close ball park number. I tend to agree. Comments?
