hey guys i recently just blew the motor on our boat and we got a 2003 mercury 200 hp optimax and its a 3.0 liter….was just curious on how you guys liked these we have a 92 pantera 2 and I know this motor will absolutely fly…

The soft tone is a ground fault in the ignition.

Hello all! The alarm and oil light only went off at top end and when I let off it the alarm and oil light went out. I kept running it around at lower rpm all the way to 5500 and it ran fine and alarm never went off again, but if i got into it again it came on again. The water was coming out of the pressure port. I guess I just dont understand how that can be a heat alarm wouldnt it stay on because it would still be hot even after I let off accelerator.

If it is an intermittent beeper we are suspect to water in the filter. Since it is an Opti you will remove the filter canister from the VST. (Fuel Pump)

I would go with rev limiter. I been there done that. Have a prop shop put a little more cup in the prop and it will get off the alarm.

I also am running a P3 with a newer 2006 200 Opti and you will probably have to go up at least an inch of pitch over your older engine. I had to go to a 26 Tempest to keep mine off the rev limiter (though sometimes in the winter I am playing on the edge). It sure seems to beep louder at speed.

Took motor back to shop yesterday and had over rev alarm. Cant figure out soft tone though? wasnt there with old motor. Installed new motor and when plugged into wiring harness it kicks that low tone. unplugged harness and installed break out box and no tone. cant figure it out any help here? How about prop anybody ran a p111 with fury which one should I try I am bigger guy about 280 and normaly have slow hole shot due to 4 batterys and my weight, but i want to stay off rev limiter. Thanks for all the help. PSI when alarm went off was 20

That should be a good motor but the earlier one had some cold running issues. Be absoluetly sure that it is well warmed up before getting on it.

That azz-heavy P-II is gonna love that 3.0 ltr big block for getting out of the hole. Great engine!

Yea its a big motor but I guess itll scoot according to my dad haha any prop suggestions?? Right now we have a 24 trophy…
