not enough to justify the cost. in addition it will have to be a special 6 bolt hole jackplate and would have to be hydraulic.
Nope, there is not a noticeable gain in performance on an 8″ plate.
Yes that would do the trick. A little adjustment of the plate lower should help you. BCB
about how much should i drop it. an how high should the rooster tail be
The rooster tail should be about cowling high. Lower it between 1/4 and 1/2″ to start with. BCB
dro, Im not sure what you mean by “trimmed up”, but I know the Sabre will run better with a higher than level JP setting usually around 3 1/2″ below pad and not as much trim. If you are trimming way up you will not run as good and will be harder to drive. John
how do u measure it from the pad where is the pad
The pad is the flat part on the bottom of the boat in the midline. While boat is on the trailer, trim motor down until the nosecone is parallel with the pad. Then measure vertical distance from pad to center of nosecone (center of propshaft). Hope that helps. Others also use the inner/outer jackplate height as a reference for motor height. Report what your height is with one of these two methods, and you might get more detailed help. But, you should take BCBs advice first and start lowering the motor a little at a time. basscat4life is urs 3 1/2 below the pad. Thanks for all of yalls help
The Atlas plate seems fine, though we really like the newer Detwiler plate. We have mounted some Pros boats with Atlas plates.
So BCB does Atlas make the plate in your Required 6 Bolt pattern so the ever important Lifetime Warranty is not harmed? Ive been asked several times about the Atlas, we put a 250 HO on one this last spring on a guys new 08 Triton 21×2, and it seemed to have great design and fit n finish…….Will this become a Option like on the other guys boats? I see The Flippin boys are using it, wasnt sure of Rick and Ivans Opinions on it? Thanks againYour Signature …
As of now the two hydraulic plates available are the Bobs, and Detwiler, and i dont see a third added for an option. As far as Atlas making a six bolt plate for BCB, youll have to ask them. Rick and Ivan arent likely to start opining on someone elses product other than to tell you as already stated, and have shown their support for the Detwiler product, and Bobs as the option. And if you really want to turn one of them off just mention that the “other guys” up there are using it ! Good question though, but BCB likes to simplify, not complicate options. In fact to date BCB does not reccommend a hydraulic plate, period ! D.
dbasketman,Im pretty sure that right now they are simply working on things for the 2009 season, making arrangements in Miami, and working boat shows…..Trust me, they are not worried about me mentioning that R uses the Atlas…..IT has only been out for a year and from my experiences with Mt Home their 1st concern is quality and longevity….I like the Detweiler for Hydraulic, the machining, material, design and fit n finish is killer, and everyone I encounter loves theirs, Bobs are a great unit, nice and light and one of the fastest, now for 2009 are you guys doing 6inches in those like last year, cause last year the Detweiler Hydraulic was 8inch, and the Bobs was 6, this year are they both 8s or is the Bobs still 6? And why does BCB not recomend the Detweiler Direct gauge thing, thats where the jack plate has presets right?
