03 225 Opti Spark Plugs ??

My owners manual lists a NGK PZFR5F-1 plug for my Opti with a .040in gap. It has NGK 1ZFR5G in it and my local Merc. dealer calls for the IZF in then parts catalog. Which is correct and what is the gap on the IZF plug?? Also, the dealer wants $20 for the IZF and my local parts store has them for $13. I guess they are the same plug because they are both the same NGK number..

Baycat the plugs that the number starts with a P have a Platinum electrode and the ones with the I have a Iridium electrode.The Iridium plug will not foul as bad as the Platinum. Mercury made the Iridium their standard about 2005 or so. I have a 99225 Opti that still has the Platinum in and it runs fine and starts great.Johnny
