I just got an 04 Pantera Classic w/200 Yamaha OX66 with 30 hours on it. Im pretty sure the previous owner never tuned the setup. I adjusted engine height to 3″ below pad, and with driver and gear, livewell full, 3/4 tank gas, the Yamaha 25M prop turns 5500 @ 68 MPH GPS. Water temp was 81. Hole shot is good and no blowout. Water pressure at WOT is around 20 psi. There is a bit of up trim available, but I have to learn how to counteract chine walk to get there. I think this is about all I can get, but wondered if anyone else is doing better with the same rig.

I have now put over 100 hours in the seat on this boat…love it! Trying to get all I can and found my original post from 4 years ago….Hoping this time someone will offer advice.More info on current setup. 6″ jackplate, 25M prop, remeasured the distance from prop shaft c/l to pad and its 3-5/16″. Have seen 70 GPS tourny loaded, full gas, 400 lb combined driver+passenger, 55 degree water, 60 degree air, turning 5600 RPM, water pressure 20+ with good hole shot. Ive learned to not overtrim this cat, but see a few threads from guys getting a few MPH more.Any suggestions?

I run an 05 Classic and my engine height is right where yours is at at 3 5/16 below pad. – that is for my Mercury.. I would think 70 mph with a full tank, two people, and full tournament load is doing pretty good. Back years ago records show they ran that rig for the 600 Horse Shoot Out in Bass & Walleye, with a 25 Tempest. The Fury was not out at that time so we would try one in 24″.

My 99 Classic likes the 8 inch jackplate more than the 6 inch . — Also running a 200 Yamaha , but an older pro-v model . — 4 blade Yamaha prop in 24 pitch at 6300 rpm gives me 73 – 74 m.p.h. — Plenty fast enough to make em have to work to pass me . — Ive seen 79.9 on a strictly top speed run , but she gets a bit hairy to hang onto at that speed . — Hoss

Ran a Fury 25 today, dropped RPM to 5600, great hole shot and picked up 2 MPH……runs like a totally different cat. Just what I was looking for.
