05 puma won’t plane

Read some of the other topics on this, mine seems alittle different but maybe not.

05 puma, 250 verado, 5 batteries, 3 fuel tanks.

With the 26p bravo 1 (empty livewells) planes in about 7seconds, with full wells, it won’t plane at all.

26p fury 3 blade, planes in 10 or more seconds, full wells, just stares at the sky.

Both props turn 3500rpm trying to plane out and no more.

Prop to pad is 2.5″ on a manual plate.

Do I have to much prop? Up top she Flys, the holeshot is terrible tho, I can’t have a boat not getting on plane with full live wells. Any insight would be great. Going to try and 25p tempest next weekend.

I have a 2020 Sabre, Merc 150 hp ProXS 4-stroke, running a 25 pitch 3 blade tempest. Runs 60.4 mph(6000rpm) with me(190lbs) full wells and full gas(33 gallons). When my friend fishes with me(180lbs), boat will run 57.6 mph. I fished a tournament a couple of weeks ago, and the co-angler was about 260lbs and he had a tackle bag. Boat would not get on plane and ran only 44.8 mph(5400 rpm). I was so disappointed, I didn’t even make the 20 mile run I had planned to make to fish. I love the boat, which I bought November 2022, but the boat not planing even with a big guy bothers me!!!!!! BTW, the manual jack plate is 1 inch raised above flush. When you find out the answer, please let me know.

The Supercharger won’t even begin boost until 3450 RPM from our experience. It sounds like you need venting though we don’t know which propeller you have, or if it has PVS plugs. Also did you try raising the jackplate to increase venting and lowering the plate once up and running. On a 250 we think the 26 Bravo sounds like a large prop as the L6 250 Verado should turn 6400 RPM we believe.

Pvs plug are out on both props aswell as vent rings, full throttle and it won’t build past 3400rpm.

It’s on a manual plate so that option isn’t available to me unfortunately.

To my knowledge from the past owner, Rick himself set this boat up with this prop, it does run well wide open, real well in fact. Just with 3 full tanks and livewells, it isn’t happy lol.

Will report back after I try the 25p tempest available to me.

Sounds like you need to drop the motor a little bit and maybe try it with the cavitation ring, all vent holes open. Are any of the batteries lithium? Seems like you are not getting enough bite at takeoff.
