Not a better way Im afraid. I did take mine out for a little while and was able to find plastic body plugs at the local Advance Auto Parts that did a great job on the holes. Luckily – my glass is charcoal grey and the plugs look like they were there from the factory. To really install it right requires a little “adjustment” on the tabs with a dead blow hammer so the angle will match with the glass. My shop bent them so theres an 1/8″ gap on each side and installed nylon spacers between the tabs and the rod boxes. It doesnt scratch or damage the glass that way. Barring blowing out a knee like I did and needing the front step again – there should be little reason to ever have to remove it. As soon as the knee healed – the flippin deck was back where it belonged. Its about the best accessory for a Sabre or Classic. As I said – it makes a lot of extra room for two to fish from the front. The area underneath is perfect for an extra cooler and for your partners tackle to fit underneath. It does make it a little more difficult to access the cooler – but I really like a small 6-pack cooler for drinks anyway and keep the cooler drain plugged to use as a “dry storage”. It keeps valuables out of sight in parking lots.
