I bought an 07 Classic this year and was just curious what prop you guys are running on a similar boat and motor (200Opti). I currently have a 26P Trophy on it and I feel like it doesnt seem like a good fit. Also, I have a good deal of wheel stiffness even at idle speeds. My motor height is about an inch above flush on the jack plate. Water pressure is good and I did notice it looks like the hydro fluid could be topped off. Sounds like you may be too high.

I too would say your too high on the jack plate. Hydraulic fluid should be OK. If it were too low it would feel about the same as air in your automobiles brake system. As you come down on that plate the steering will become easier. Are you able to drive this boat at WOT?

Classic07, I also think your jackplate is set too high. I also run a Classic and I suggest you drop down to 1/8″ above flush on the setting and then very carefully adjust up from there. Mine is 1/8 above flush and runs good at that setting.Everyone should believe in something. I believe Ill just go fishing!

As the others have said, You should drop your motor a little. Mine always ran good at 1/2″ to 3/4″ above flush. Any higher than that and I didnt have sufficient lift with a full load. Drop some and try it out. Keep doing that until you find out where it runs best. Setting up is part of the fun of owning one. Most that dont run well are too high on the plate. I agree with everyone ….you are too high! My Classic likes plates flush to a 1/4 inch high. Have fun the Classic is a fun boat to drive!!

My 2008 Classic/200Opti/Trophy Plus combo gives me great performace. It is set at flush on the front part of the jack plate. It was that way on delivery of the boat and I havent had a need to adjust. Great hole shot and 70+ on top end. All that I care to do. As others suggested you probably should adjust you plate height. Good luck! 2Sport
