I have a 05 Classic. I had my jack plate set 1 1/2″ above flush with the inner & outer plates. It seemed loose as far as control and too much steering torque. I lowered it to 1/2″ above flush and actually picked up speed. Steering torque went away except for a little at full throttle. BCB has said it over & over again: raise your motor until you feel a little steering torque and then drop it 1/4″ and you will be real close with the set-up for your boat. I run a Yamaha 200 HPDI and by myself, full gas and no livewell I run 73 GPS in the summer and a little better in the cooler months. Good Luck, Brian I turn a 26 Tempest @ 5700 rpm. With the motor that high you propably are not using much trim. Try dropping the motor, trim all out then bump the trim back down 2 or 3 clicks. I think you should be able to get more rpms.Last edited by basscathash on July 14th, 2008, 1:52 am, edited 1 time in total.
