150 EFI beeps in rough water

I have a 2001 Sabre with a 150 EFI that runs great, but Sunday while on the lake, I started getting warning beeps when going through rough water. Seems like every time I hit a wave it would beep once. Plenty of oil in remote reservoir and on engine reservoir. Caps on both are very tight. Any ideas?

It has to be the oil reservoir on the engine and it could be a faulty or soaked float. The reservoir on the engine is the only place we have seen this situation. Others are different than you describe. BCB Team

When you say that it has to be the reservoir on the engine, what do you mean? I checked it, and the oil level is about 1/2″ from the top. Should it be full to the brim?

It should be to the top of the reservoir where the neck meets it. It should not be coming up into the neck but at the neck. Ive just dealt with this in my 1994 150 EFI.Mike

Were you running on top of some tall chop? My opti does this when running hard,, nose trimmed down directly into tall chop. It is just short instances of hitting the rev limiter when the prop skips from one wave to the next. In this case it usually only happens after the slightly taller than the rest waves. Just a thought.on your oil tank, 1/2″ from the top should not set off the oil alarm.

On this age of engine the reservoir should be topped off to prevent the beeper. It is the level in the upper reservoir. The newer ones are not as sensitive, though they still should be topped off to prevent the beeper. BCB

1/2″ down on oil level can activate the alarm in rough water..Start motor and let it idle loosen cap on motor reservoir and tighten when oil starts to overflow..Problem with alarm should be gone..Sherm

I had the same problem with a 150 efi. turned out to be the fuel filter. I removed the filter and poured the contents in a disposable container. Problem was the water sensor and I guess I had a small amount of water in the filter.
