I have a 1994 Eyra and was curious if anyone knew how many were made the 1st year they came out?
Congrats on your “new” boat and welcome to the family board!BassCat doesnt usually release production numbers of models, and because this was a few years ago, they may still not or do not have those figures any longer. You could call the factory and they might tell you “off the record”.You have a boat that was the first of many things for BassCat and the boating world. This was billed as the “Tournament Fishermans Dream” as there was a 150 hp limit on the BassMaster and most major trails back then. The Eyra was the first model ever offered by any company with a standard recessed trolling motor pedal basin. It was also the first with the rounded styling seen on many boats and refined over the years in the BassCat lineup. Notice the trademark lightning bolt that wraps around toward the transom? The first generation Eyras were the first and only BassCats to have that styling until around 2006 or so, when the “wrap around ” bolt was added to all the models. Also the first BassCat with the handrails built into the top cap. The Eyra was new, cutting edge styling leading to the Jaguar, Pantera III and original Cougar. Shortly after introduction, the hp limits on tournament trails was raised and bigger was better(bigger engine too). Rest assured, the 17 10″ Eyra was cutting its teeth and tested on the Great Lakes. It is a deep hull and its capabilities are deceiving.I bought a used 1996 Eyra from a friends estate back in 2007, when my family decided we needed to get back into a fiberglass rig. I have updated the seats to a newer style. Most people think it is only around 5 yrs old, the styling is similar yet different.Congrats again, sorry to be long winded. Its just that everytime I get in that boat I enjoy it more and more……maybe because Im getting older and value time on the water…..maybe because it is a fun boat. Enjoy!96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
Thanks for the reply. This is my 2nd Cat and I absolutly love it. I would have started posting on the forum years ago when I bought my 1st BassCat, a 1990 PII, but Im not real good with computers. I finally got it figured out. I have been in love with the 1st generation Eyras since I 1st saw pics of them. Always wanted one but they are almost impossible to find for sale. I stumbled upon this one and had to have it. These boats are truly a big part of BassCat and bass boat history period. The boat that paved the way for current boats built today. It amazes me how that 18 boat is laid out like a 20 or 21
This is my 3rd, unless we figure in my brother, which brings us to 5. Bought a new 89 Sabre, then ordered a new 97 Pantera II. Sold it in 05, then went old school again with the Eyra. My next boat will be newer, my son will probably get this one at graduation next spring.Put some pictures up when you get the computer thing figured out!. I still have trouble with that one……………..96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
Ill do that jignpig. Its a sweet looking boat. White hull with a black boot, Black bolt with red accents! Will try to post pics and also put some on the Owners gallery page. I have a 175 EFI and the boat flies!
Im loaded with the Mariner Magnum 175 EFI as well. Experimenting with a 24 Fury prop right now. Unbelievable lift on the hull. Hitting 5900 rpms. Ive got mine on the Owners Gallery http://bassboatowners.com/AlanSarna.html.That was in the early stages of updating. Put a deck extension on it as well. Send an IM if you ever want to chat or email………..jignpig89@comcast.net96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
