I purchased the Flat Foot Recessed Tray by Rod Saver from Bass Pro Shops. I have already cut the hole in the floor and removed the necessary foam and the tray fits perfect, however the instructions for the drain tube assembly state: “”All boat manufacturers provide a path or Keel Drain in the keel of the boat and into the bilge to be pumped out. Make sure the end of the Drain Tube is located near the path or Keel Drain (usually 2″ PVC pipe that is fiberglassed into the keel of the boat).” I have dug down to see the keel drain pipe on my boat, appears to be a one inch pipe, but runs all the way to the bow to a seperate chamber for where the trolling motor plugs into and the flasher is mounted. This keel pipe looks and feels to be insulated with foam underneath the floor back towards the bilge area so I suspect that the water from the drain tube would just saturate the floatation foam if it is not plumbed into the keel pipe. Any suggestions on where or how to run the drain tube? It looks like I will have to dig out all of the foam from underneath my cut out to access the keel pipe enough to hard plumb the drain tube into the keel drain, but this may not be doable if the keel pipe is fiberglassed in or has resin on it? I researched this site and saw a post from earlier this year where someone had a question about installing a recessed tray in a 94 Pantera and someone responded by saying that the bottom supports would have to be fiberglassed? Bass Cat responded recommending that the poster go to “Franks retro” on Bass Cats facebook but I have not been able to find it. Thank you Bass Cat for all you do for your customers.
