Ive been looking for a used Sabre for awhile. This will be my first bass boat. Today I found a 1997 Eyra for sale. I dont know as much about the Eyras as I do the Sabres. I do know the Eyra is slightly shorter, has a slightly deeper hull, had the rounded top cap. I have read they are a little trickier to drive than the Sabre, but that may be just someones opinion. With a discontinued model, its a little difficult to find information, and I did a lot of searching through old posts on here. Id like to hear from Eyra owners or BCB: If you were looking at a 1997 Eyra and a 1997 Sabre, which would you choose and why? Any other differences between these models? Thanks, Casey

I have a 1994 Eyra and I love it. Very smooth & dry ride. Ive never had any problem driving it. I dont know of anyone that has one that has anythimg negative to say about them. That being said Im also sure that the Sabre owners feel the same way about their boats. I just think that there is something special about having one of the original Eyras. Ive done a lot of things to fix mine up and I get a lot of comments about it. When I took it in to have the new outboard put on it the guy that was checking it in said “This is what?………about a 2004 model?”

I have a 96 Eyra and love it. The Eyra was the first of the rounded styling that we see has evolved into todays boat. They did have a deeper hull and handled big water very well. They were the first with the recessed tm pedal basin. I have updated mine in the 3 yrs Ive owned it and people think it is a 04 model or so. Typically they had 36 gal single fuel tank. Big livewell. It would have the BP superdash unless someone replaced it. I ran an 89 Sabre that I bought new and it was a very sweet boat for its size. The 97 model wouldve been a little different than mine, probably a bench seat style. They fish very well and boat trailer easily. Both boats are rated for 175hp. Storage is a little different on both, and being on the smaller end of the lineup, you have to pack accordingly.Having driven the Sabre/175 combo to 74 gps it really pushed the envelope, right on the edge of being out of control. But that Sabre was an especially sweet setup that really irritated a lot of other brand boats running 200/225s. I miss that one. My Eyra/175 combo runs 67-68 easily and pushing 70 isnt to bad. Thanks very much for the info, guys. Im sure I would be equally happy with either one. I really like the looks of the Eyra. A little leery of the Superdash though. I hear if they go out, youre SOL on repairing them. Not a deal breaker though. Il keep you guys posted if it works out.

I have a 1996 Eyra and blew the Merc 150 XRI I had on it. I installed a new 2019 Yamaha 175 VMax SHO in July and was interested in some info as to Engine height PTP, Prop of your setup as I never had a 175 only a 150 on the boat. Also any prop you are running or can recommend
