I’m looking for some help with an issue I’m having with my GPS. My GPS has worked great since I’ve owned my 97 Jaguar, but last fall just before I put the boat in storage I began receiving the error “GPS Module Not Responding” The first time I had my boat out this year, my GPS worked, but then I started receiving the error again. Now, when I turn the GPS on, it either will give me the error immediately, or it will lock onto the satellites then lose the position within 30 seconds, then it won’t lock back on. This is very frustrating, because I do a lot of offshore fishing, and having a GPS that works is a must.I’ve done a lot of research on this to try to solve the problem myself, but nothing seems to work. My GPS unit has the most recent updates installed on the unit, and I’ve done both the “soft reset” and the “hard reset” and neither have solved the problem. I’m beginning to think the LGC – 3000 GPS receiver is bad, but if that’s the case, then why would it work from time to time? Could it possibly be a loose connection somewhere? And if so, how would I check that? The only way to get to anything is to take off the metal vent piece in the back of the boat, but even then, there isn’t much room to work with? I’m not sure what to do next, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
