Im hoping to be a first time Bass Cat owner real soon. I recently looked at a 98 Pantera II. Boat is in good shape. I was ready to buy it pending a water test this up coming weekend. It has a 200 mariner. Compression numbers are between 113 – 120. Has a new 3 bank charger, all new pumps (aerator, bilge, water, etc). After I looked at it the current owner decided to take the boat out and had a few issues. So the water test is off for this weekend. Anyway I wanted to run the issues by the board and also see if there is anything else that you guys think I need to look out for with this particualr model/year. The current owner was honest enough to tell me about the issues. The digital dash was not coming on, so none of the pumps were working either. Also, when he first put the boat in the water it ran fine for 10 – 15 minutes, he said he was doing 60mph. He stopped for a bit then went to take off again and had some issues getting on plane. He eventually got on plane and the boat ran fine on the top end. He is taking it to a local Bass Cat dealer to get checked out. One side note, the cover had leaked and the bilge area had filled up with water, the owner had left the plug in. Not sure if this could have caused a fuse/circuit to go. Thanks in advance for any input.

Well used boats of any brand can be alot of fun. On that year of BCB it has a Wood structure, granted its Balsa and encased in glass Id still have a Fiberglass person check the transom,and floor, it may be free to have it checked, it may be $100 but at least youll know if all is well. Make sure the BCB dealer puts everything in writing and talk to the service person yourself. Alof of crazy things can and have happened in the market of used boats. Not at all trying to freak you out, just giving some honest advice, its a buyers market, did you see the Bright Blue Pantera 2 in Lousiana, the guy selling it is a good guy, its on bassboatcentral.com, for sale page, very attractive and original owner…. http://www.bassboatcentral.com/Boats4Sa … reaux2.jpg heres a pic, its a ways down on the list of boats for sale its under Henry,LA
