1999 P3 bilge pump question/issue

Hello allWondering if someone can help me figureout how to get my automatic bilge pump working again? I have an 1999 Pantera 3,there is a crap load of wires in the bilge area and hell if I know whats what in there..when I put the automatic bilge on it sounds like its surging,I dont need to raise float to get it to come on so suspect in changing out the pump I hooked up something wrong…can anyone tell me how the wiring goes? I have brown and black wires going to my pumps..any info would be greatly appreciated as always!Mike Richard CFBC FOUNDER

Do you still have the old digital dash in there?I actualslly the factory installed automatic one out and hard wired a 1250 automatic pump that was totally self contained. it was wired directly to the cranking battery w/a inline fuse on the hot wire. The main reason I did this, was in a total power out, I knew I had a large pump that would exit some water, and it could be moved and rotated to differnet batteries if that would have been needed.

The pumps are on the brown wires and it depends on the dash how its all hooked up.

Still have the old dash..knock on wood!! Would really like to have this thing working correctly again!! Thanks in advance for any and all info!Have another question but will post new topic as it pertains to the trolling motor wiringMike Richard CFBC FOUNDER

On a digital dash the automatic bilge switch does not have any power, it may read 5 volts, though it is not used. The switch is only a sensor and contact for the pumps. We suspect the float switch is bad and if you turn on the auto bilge and touch the switches (float) wires together you should get the pumps to come on. The float is located right in the area of hte rear seat pedestal mount, usually pointed towards the bow right in front of it. BCB

Thanks again…I replaced the float acouple years ago..tried to get it to work when I tipped up float to make the connection but could not,so I switched the wires around and now can get both the auto and manual bilge to work,but the auto is a constant on surging on/off/on/off etc..I will take a picture later today and post,will be nice to get any and all opinions and suggestions!!Mike Richard CFBC FOUNDER

Here is pic of bilge pumps etc…I got 2 brown wires coming out of float switch,dont have a clue where to connect to? They are wrapped around seat post..Mike Richard CFBC FOUNDER

The picture wont help us as we know what it looks like. Though the system probably needs technician on the wiring to figure out if the float is working or if you are getting power to the pumps. BCB

So its it suggested I call and talk to one of the technicians at Basscat and have them talk me through the connection process? The float is new,basically never been used..Mike Richard CFBC FOUNDER

Our opinion is that the outcome of any conversation is dependent on your abilities. This is simple system that is not complex if you understand 12 volts. Though if you do not then anything is hard.
