Topic: 200 Opti is “missing”

Fished first tourny of the year in the Cat. I have an issue with the motor. Its a 200 Opti on a P4. Usually Im around 65 loaded out with my partner. Seems like it is missing or something. It is a dog out of the hole and only getting around 4500 rpms and 50 mph. Not a gear, or prop prob. Went last week everything the same and no probs. Is this bad, terrible or get a bank loan. Its going to the shop first of the week anyway. Thanks for any input. Still got 8th out of 44 teams which is good for us on the lake we were on. Bryan.

Luckily Brian thats why the new motors come with the 5yr warranty……Nice thing about the Optimax and Evinrudes is that with the lap top you can diagnose the whole motor….They can see how it was broken in,where you spend your time for RPMs, and even us guys who drive a little crazier we still are like 80 some % at idle….Have them run the serial # so that they can check for issues with that run of motors…..Mercury is a pleasure to deal with both during and after warranty…..Please post what it was after its diagnosed,so other Merc folks will know the symptoms….Brannon Your Signature …

Since it is a 2003 Opti we think it could be as simple as a set of plugs. Nothing to get shook about, though they are a little pricey on those plugs. BCB

It is probably a foull plug like the BCB said I had the same problem with my 02 200 Opti. I was told I needed to run Quikleen decarbonizer to help with the problem, I havent had any problems with it since I started running it.
