I have the same boat and motor but a 2001 model. The 24 Trophy is probably a little small but will work fine. Once you get your props vent holes adjusted correctly that 24 trophy should jump that boat out of the water. They tend act more like a 23 than a 24. I would recommend a 25 Trophy if you are actually turning 6200 rpms with a low motor height and hot weather. Once you get the motor height correct and in colder temps you will be turning too much. I run the 25 Trophy and it will turn 6000 in these summer months by myself and 5800 fully tournament loaded with 2 bubbas. First of all on the blow out coming out of the hole ( ventilation ) you will need to adjust your pvs plugs. I run 2 small 3/8 openings and 2 holes wide open. If this doesnt work then close off another hole. It is really all trial and error. Each boat and motor is different but it sounds like you have a strong combo. If you have more holes open than 2 you will blow out. As far as your engine height, Put it back where it was. Dont worry about prop shaft height. Raise your motor until you have tourque on the wheel at WOT then drop it about 1/4 inch. This should put you pretty close to a perfect all around setup. If you dont have excessive tourque on the wheel and you are not throwing a big tall rooster tail then you are o.k. Yes, the pad is under the drain plug. I would be comfortable running that 2.5 liter 200 at 6000 rpms all day long. Any more than that and you will probably cut into some engine life. These motors like the higher rpms and really seem to wake up after 5700. I have mine propped to turn 6000 in the summer and in the winter I just dont spin it past that for extended periods of time. I dont mind spinning 6200 for a short top end burst, but wouldnt do it for long runs. Mercury however recommends top rpms to be 5800. You dont have any warranty left and your leaving some performance on the table if you are propped to run this rpm when lightly loaded. I would say prop out to run 5800 when really heavily loaded and just be wary of how much you run on top. Good luck with your setup and let us know how it turns out.
