2002 seats getting wet?

BCB, I found out last week that the seats in my Jaguar are getting full of water. It was quite a surprise when I sat down. These seats are in great shape with no rips or holes so Im assuming it must be getting in through the thread seams. Is there any way of sealing them back up or should I break down and go with the bucket upgrade?

On a 2002, any water would be in the seamed material only. The lower foam is bagged in a thin poly bag material and the cover with foam slipped over it. Those stitches can absorb moisture and they can leak out through the stitch hole for some time. BCB

Can anything be applied to try and seal up the threads a little bit?

I have a 2002 Jag and I have the same problem. I have gotten water out of the seat for up to four days after a rain. That a lot of water for just small area. My boat is cover here at home. The only way the water get in is when it is under cover on the lake to and from.

Mine is usually out of the weather also. It got rained on a few times while on vacation last week. I REALLY would like to go to the buckets. Maybe this is my chance.

I have been think able that to. My only problem is the holes and the thin coveing that BCB talk about on web site about seats.

Bob Rodkey aka “Olddawg” converted his 2000 Jag to the bucket seats. He has some posts back in June -August of last year that talked about this. I got busy at work and was unable to post the links. THERE ARE SEVERAL ITEMS ON THE WEB PAGE FOR WATERPROOFING MATERIALS, CLOTHING AND SUCH. I HAVE NEVER TRIED THEM BUT IT WOULD BE WORTH TRYING. I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM

My bench seats were trashed so I updated with the new factory buckets as well as a steering wheel and all new butt seats/folding seat and new pro poles and a few other items. I will be more than happy to answer any questions that you may have, removal of the old seats and installation of the new seats is very easy and it makes a huge difference.
