I need to change the pump cartridge, but Im afraid its located under the gas tank. Is this correct? If so, how do u change it?
Most pumps (aerator, bilge, recirculator) are located in the bilge area and should be pretty easily accessed. That is one of the great things about a BassCat. My Dads Ranger is a pain in the hind end to get to the pumps. You have to remove the oil reservoir and fold up a panel to get to them and even then its a tight area to work in. This is my 92 Sabre. I know yours will probably look different but my aerator is located between the two bilge pumps and the rear seat pedastal. You need to be commended on the condition of the bilge. I hope the pic was taken immediately after you spent all day cleaning it up. After looking at that, I need to do some cleaning on mine for sure. Yours looks great.Everyone should believe in something. I believe Ill just go fishing!
I had a 2004 Cougar FTD and all pumps were in the bilge area. Easy to get to.Ron
Yes sir it is a 92. I do my best to keep her clean but this was after an especially good cleaning. I had her at the shop and didnt pull the plug. We had a downpour that filled the boat enough that the storage boxes all filled up as well. I had everything out and drying so I decided to clean and take pics. She still looks the same with a little effort. Under the gas tank! Dont know if I want any part of this job.
What did you use to clean the bilge area of your boat?
Take it to the car wash a few times and will will come clean. You should have seen the 05 Cougar I recently bought, It was really really bad!!!But looks 100% better now.

I use the cheap stuff in a purple bottle called “Super Clean”. It may not be recommended but it sure works. It will clean it but there will be a lot of suds so it takes a lot of rinsing and letting it drain and repeating. Otherwise I just use my little pressure washer to keep it looking good.
