Hey guys I know this has probably been discussed before but I am looking for recommendations on a prop for my Puma. It seems to not get any lift at all. I am running a 25 Fury 3 blade. I have a 225hp Mercury set at 3.5 inch below pad. I don’t run any gas in the belly tank at all. Should I be looking to get a Bravo 4 blade? Thanks a ton.
I’m running the 225 Opti on a 2005 Puma also. Not sure of the Jackplate height, but the prop is a 4 blade, 25″ . I think it’s a Trophy (I’ve ran several and get confused on what I settled on). I will check later today or tomorrow and see for sure while I’m checking the jackplate height. I don’t get a lot of lift (I can if I want to, but lift doesn’t transfer to speed in this case) I run the belly tank at around 25% as a reserve tank, then run the back saddle tanks anywhere between 50% and full, depending on what kind of runs I’m going to be making. I’ll get back to you on the exact prop and the motor height.

Thanks for the reply. Not looking for a ton of speed. I just would like for the nose to higher especially when I’m running at 50-60 mph. I’ve played with the trim but can’t seem to get the mid area up a lil higher.
CHECK THE CUP ON BLADE TIPS. LOOK AT A 24 FURY 3 BLADE AND ADD A LITTLE CUP . MID RANGE LIFT WILL IMPROVE. I DID THIS TO MY 2010 WITH A 225 PRO XS AND GOT WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR 4000 RPM 44- 48 MPH. TAKE SOME LOAD OUT OF THE FRONT BOXES. MAKES A LOT OF DIFFERENCE .
Thanks Mark. You put in words what I am looking for.

Mine doesn’t lift at low RPMs, but that is what I like. If I’m running that slow, I’m either in a creek (timbered lake), just taking it easy, or looking for something. Personally I think with bow high, it “hampers” the steering not letting the back end “bite” when making turns. Anyway, because mine isn’t what you’re looking for, then my setup wouldn’t help you out.

Hello! I have a 2004 Cougar Ftd 225 opti combo. Ive run a 26 Trophy. Good lift poor hole shot and didnt like the way it loaded the boat. The prop would run around 72 wot.. Then i ran a 25 fury. The Fury had a best speed of 75 in the cooler months. Great speed not alot of lift and didn’t care for the way it ran in the bigger waves. I fish Lake Michigan alot. The current prop that i’m running is a 26 tempest. I really like this wheel. Good hole shot carries the load very well and alot of lift. Its actually a little big for the summer months as well. Going to send it in and have a little pitch taking out of it. I believe a 25 would be the best in the tempest. It runs 71-73 most of the time. Im going to try a Bravo 25 when the weather breaks. The only reason im going to is better hole shot. Hope this helps Hammy.
I have a 17 with poles and 112 fortex. I sold my 3 blades and now run 4 blade furys 25’s on a 250 -pro xs. The stern lift is great and hole shot is good as well. I need to make some jack plate adjustments ( I think I need to go down from my current 3″ p2p) But running the trim up on the gauge to 5 with a manual slide master plate. Im seeing 74.8 @ +/- 5800 rpm. I know people say they are blade slingers.. but mine have been good on this boat and on my caracal which had a 225, and I ran the 24p on it and it was a different boat aftewards.
I’m running a Yamaha so it’s a little different, but see if you can try a 25 Tempest.
I started running one when I had spun a hub on my Yamaha prop about 2 years ago, and performance drastically increased for me. Usually run belly tank full, and about 50% in rear tanks. Great hole shot, great lift, and good speed.
