Hello Folks,

I have a 2006 PIV with a small leak in my rear axle brake line, it is leaking out of the flare fitting on the brass “tee”, the side where the coiled tubing goes to the far caliper. Can you please tell me the brake line diameter? I read elsewhere it may be a 3/16 line with a 3/8 x 24 thread bolt.

Try just tightening the fittings , but be sure to use ” line ” wrenches . – Will most likely cure your leak . — Just be sure to bleed the system after you tighten it up .

Thanks Bigcatter, will try that first, but the flare nut and threads look pretty corroded so I might replace them anyway……do you happen to know those specs?

Thanks BCB….I need to buy a flaring “inline tool” and one of the best “consumer” flaring tools only does 3/16, that’s one of the reasons I was asking for the details.

You actually need a ” double ” flaring tool to do brake lines . — Single flare will not hold the pressure . — As long as the flare nuts are not rounded off from previous repairs , just shoot some good penetrant on them and allow it to sit for 24 hours . — Crack them loose , then re-tighten . — Should work , corrosion or not .

Thanks Bigcatter, I was looking at the double flare tool…

I will try as u suggested, thanks for the good idea!
