My etec is only a month old but no complaints. i have had lots of mercs, couple hammers and lots of rudes and i personally am not afraid of any of them. If its an 07 it should have lots of warranty left so if yo have a good etec mechanic incase you need him would be more of my concern than the actual motor. they all can and will break in time! I am lucky in that there are a few good rude mechanics around here. but in some areas there may not be.
