I ran a 25p fury on my pantera ll with a 200 opitmax this weekend. The boat would snap loose causing an alarm on the motor. This would happen at mid range. I never had the chance to hold it wide open. I dont know if I have the jackplate to high but it is about a 1/4 to a 1/2 inch below flush. I put a 26p fury on it and the problem went away. Any suggestions?

Sounds like it may be too low as we expect this to be happening around 60 to 65 MPH. BCB

I can be running 40 and feel it trying to break loose. I will put it back on and raise the motor and see what happens. About where does it need to be from flush?

Try what they call flush. Then move up based on steering wheel torque. It should pull very slightly to the right.

On another thought from a different person, it is possible you have a bad propeller. We would think thatif engine heights do not correct what your experiencing.

The prop is brand new.

I have experienced the same thing on my 2001 classic with every prop Ive put on the ole Merc. I have the luxury of a hydraulic jack plate now and I can almost guarantee you that if you raise the motor a touch it will go away. My rig will do it when I drop the plate down really low for running rough water or a really heavy load and then forget to raise it when Im ready to skin her back. So, raise it up a little and try it. Do this in 1/4 inch increments until the issue stops. If you start getting alot of Tourque on the steering wheel and loosing lift then you have gone to high.
