I have a 2008 200HP with the yahama gages and my speedo is not reading any thing and was wondering if this is a common problem and if there is a quick fix.

You have small debris in your speedo pickup on the lower unit. You will need a small drill bit and a hand drill to clean it out.

So it has a small vaccuum line like the older motors?

Small hole on front of gearcase. Look on the crest line and you will see it.

1/16 drill bit

I was told to hand turn the drill bit and it will clean out the debris just fine. Ive done this with positive results.

I have done it with just the drill bit and no drill. Just work it with your fingers first to see if that will work. If you use a drill, be careful not to actually drill deep.

Its hard to do by hand use vicegrips if you dont have a hand drill.

Since its Yamaha, shouldnt you use a “Hammer” Drill?I have used the drill bit many times. Best results were hand spun.
