I recently purchased a 2008 cougar ftd with a 250 pro xs that has a 26 trophy on it. Right now im getting about 74-75 mph at 6050 rpm with a partner. Hole shot is decent with livewells full and boat doesnt have power poles. Im trmming up to about 3 on the smart craft gauge and steering torque is moderate. It has a manual slidemaster plate set about 1/2″ above flush Ive not gotten to measure actual height yet. I dont usually carry a heavy load of tackle. Id like to be able to get a little more speed out of it and be able to get my rpms down just a little. Was thinking about trying a 27 trophy or 26/27 fury. Can any one give me some suggestions? My previous boat was a 2010 puma ftd with 250 sho and 27 T1 prop. Running it i didnt have any trouble seeing 77-78 with the same load except it had power poles.
