Was fishing a Wed night tourney, made my first run no problem, then made a short 500 yd run. Then when to leave and motor would not get over 2300 rpms. Was not missing just seemed to be bogged down. Any ideas? Thanks,JR
More then likely a coil issue, (Merc has a tsb on them) however could be a lot of things! Check fire at coils, check belt on top of engine. How are the fuel lines and bulb?
An immediate change like that would not be a fuel filter in our opinion. We think you have a gremlin in the spark plugs, ECM or Coil. We would have a technician look at it and the coil ignition drop out test with a DDT would take only about fifteen minutes to determine the failure. Plug and play diagnostics on this one.
The first time I had a coil issue (2007 pro xs), it did not show up when the tech ran a diagnostic with the computer. He had to manually check each cylinder before finding the culprit coil/driver.Not 100% on this, but I believe it was because the bad coil was still firing… just not at the level it should have been.
I am willing to bet money its a coil. I had the same motor and went through 2. A buddy had the same issues and I have heard others with the same year and HP that had the same. Merc knows about it and most dealers can get you all new coils. If you start it and the coil is not firing right it will run rough. Entire motor will shake.Seen this too many times with the year model. Merc makes the best and strongest motor out there right now. Everyone of the brands has issues at some point. I would still never run anything else. Just my 2 centsJamey
